Come, just as you are.
If you are wanting to see what church is all about, looking for a new church home, coming back after being away for a long time, or visiting the area, First Baptist welcomes you!
We meet at 11:00 Sunday mornings as we celebrate God for his love to us in Jesus Christ. Our address is 3900 Dorchester Road (Good Shepherd Church). Click here for directions and map,
Here are answers to some common questions.
How long will the service be?
Our service typically lasts just over an hour.
Where do I go?
We have a parking lot right outside our main doors. Be ready for someone to greet you when you enter the building. Washrooms are downstairs and there is also one upstairs at the back of the sanctuary where we meet.
Accessible Parking & Elevator
Our parking lot has accessible parking spots and there is an elevator if that is helpful for you.
How should I dress?
Don’t worry about how to dress… be yourself! Some people dress casually and some wear suits. You’ll be comfortable at our gathering just as you are.
What is the service like?
Our service reflects a mix of both traditional and contemporary styles. This means you can expect both classic hymns and recent music, traditional prayers and informal prayers, etc… all different ways to encounter God and be in community with others. There will also be a time of teaching that is relevant and based on the Bible and usually there is a time for the children to come up for a special talk. If your child(ren) is nervous about this, they can either stay with you in your seat or you can come up with them. No pressure at all. The first Sunday of the month we celebrate the Lord’s Supper. Lastly, you may notice that there is an offering plate at the back of the church but, if you are visiting, please do not feel that you have to give! You are our guest!
Do the Kids stay in the whole time?
They can, but we have a Sunday School that dismisses halfway through our service (SK-Gr 5). Youth group age meets once per month during that same time. There is a nursery available for children 6 mos-preschool age. All of these things happen downstairs.
We’d love to have you stay for coffee, tea, and amazing treats!
We really hope you will join us after the service for a time of eating, drinking, and saying hello. The treats are really awesome and the people are great. Pastor Leslie would especially love to say hello!
